Full opportunity detailsUgandan postdoctoral and experienced researchers are eligible because the programme is open to researchers from all countries except Germany. Applicants must meet the programme\'s career-stage and academic-quality criteria, identify an academic host at a German research institution and satisfy applicable mobility and language requirements.
The Humboldt Research Fellowship supports highly qualified researchers from outside Germany in carrying out independent research with an academic host in Germany. The programme accepts researchers from all disciplines and nationalities other than Germany.
Benefits
Postdoctoral researchers receive €3,000 per month and experienced researchers receive €3,600 per month. Additional benefits can include a €100 monthly mobility allowance, health and liability insurance subsidy, travel support, family allowances and an intensive German-language course. Postdoctoral fellowships generally last six to 24 months.
Requirements
Applicants submit a CV, research outline, full publication list, list of key publications, key publications themselves, doctoral certificate or completion evidence and a German-language certificate if required. The German host must provide a mentoring agreement and confirmation of research facilities, and expert reviewers provide references.
How to apply
Prepare the research plan with an eligible German academic host, collect the required academic and publication documents and obtain host and reviewer support. Create and submit the online fellowship application after the next call opens on November 15, 2026.
