Full opportunity detailsUgandan and other international applicants may apply. Applicants normally need a bachelor\'s degree in Physics or Mathematics or a sufficiently equivalent programme and must demonstrate strong previous study in both mathematical and theoretical-physics subjects, particularly the scientific foundations specified by the programme.
An interdisciplinary master\'s combining advanced mathematics and theoretical physics. The programme is intended for quantitatively strong graduates in mathematics or physics who want advanced preparation for research in mathematical and theoretical physics.
Benefits
University of Hamburg does not charge general tuition fees. Students pay the semester contribution and finance accommodation, living costs, health insurance, visa and travel. The programme provides advanced cross-disciplinary preparation in mathematics and physics.
Requirements
Applicants must submit a motivation letter of about one page in English, CV in English, bachelor\'s certificate and complete transcript, lists of relevant mathematics and theoretical-physics modules and credits, and proof of English proficiency. Accepted English evidence includes at least CEFR B2, IELTS 5.0, TOEFL iBT 72, recognised Cambridge certificates or a qualifying English-taught bachelor\'s degree. Applicants should have strong preparation in quantum mechanics and advanced mathematics.
How to apply
Apply online through University of Hamburg\'s STiNE system from 1 December 2026 to 15 January 2027 for the summer 2027 intake. Upload the motivation letter, CV, academic records, module lists and English-language evidence before the deadline.
Explore opportunities from Uganda and abroad. Location describes where an opportunity is based; check the official eligibility rules to confirm whether Ugandan, African or other international applicants can apply.
Compare undergraduate, master's and PhD awards by eligible nationality, subject and funding coverage. A tuition waiver does not necessarily cover living costs, insurance or travel. For medical study, confirm the exact degree and whether clinical training is included. High school awards have different age and admission requirements from university scholarships.
For US universities offering full scholarships, check the university's international admissions and financial aid pages. Confirm whether admission and funding require separate applications, and whether support is renewable each year.
For internships in Europe or elsewhere, check nationality and enrolment requirements, the stipend, accommodation and travel coverage. Paid does not necessarily mean fully funded. Remote internships may still restrict the countries where participants can work. To intern abroad without programme fees, compare direct employer applications and check which costs you must pay yourself.
For summer placements, verify the start date and application year in the official call. Search the listings for a provider or subject, such as Expedia, EU delegation traineeships or agriculture in Germany, and confirm availability with that organisation.
Check the posting date, closing date, duty station and required experience. For jobs with no experience, look for an explicit entry-level or graduate requirement; an urgent vacancy may still require experience. Verify American Embassy vacancies through the embassy's official recruitment service and New Vision vacancies against the original employer notice.
Use the intake and deadline in each listing when comparing 2026 and 2027 opportunities. A 2022 notice is historical unless the provider has published a new call. Before applying to Yale Young African Scholars or an opportunity described as a UNICEF scholarship, verify the programme name, funding and current eligibility directly with the organisation. A search phrase alone does not confirm an available award.
