Full opportunity detailsUgandan applicants are eligible because the programme is intended for graduates of non-German universities. Applicants must hold a good law degree from a non-German university and must have ranked among the top 25 percent of graduates in their cohort. German-language proficiency of at least B2 CEFR is required. Applicants whose secondary or previous tertiary education was taught in German may use the relevant academic certificates as language evidence; otherwise a recognized German-language certificate must accompany the application.
The LL.M. German Law for Foreign Graduates at the University of Passau is a two-semester research-oriented postgraduate programme for lawyers educated outside Germany. Students develop expertise in the German legal system through foundation, scientific-methods and elective modules and complete a master\'s thesis.
Benefits
The University of Passau does not charge tuition for this regular public-university degree programme; students pay the mandatory semester contribution. For winter semester 2026/27 the semester contribution is EUR 126.90, consisting of the student-services contribution and the Passau semester bus pass. Students receive two semesters of postgraduate German-law study, access to German courses for law students, the opportunity to attend classes with German law students and a qualification that can support doctoral study or international legal work involving German law. Living expenses, accommodation, travel, insurance and visa costs are not funded.
Requirements
Applicants must submit a chronological curriculum vitae, the relevant first law degree certificate and transcripts, the university entrance qualification, a copy of the identity page of the passport and proof of German proficiency at B2 CEFR or higher unless the applicant\'s prior academic certificates establish qualifying German-medium education. Academic documents issued in languages other than German, Dutch, English, French, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish must be accompanied by certified German or English translations.
How to apply
Self-register in the University of Passau Campus Portal, create an online application for the LL.M. German Law for Foreign Graduates and follow the portal instructions. Collect the required supporting documents and submit the complete application package to the University of Passau Student Registration Office as instructed by the university. The programme\'s official recurring application period for winter-semester entry is 15 April to 15 July and it does not offer a summer-semester start.
Explore opportunities from Uganda and abroad. Location describes where an opportunity is based; check the official eligibility rules to confirm whether Ugandan, African or other international applicants can apply.
Compare undergraduate, master's and PhD awards by eligible nationality, subject and funding coverage. A tuition waiver does not necessarily cover living costs, insurance or travel. For medical study, confirm the exact degree and whether clinical training is included. High school awards have different age and admission requirements from university scholarships.
For US universities offering full scholarships, check the university's international admissions and financial aid pages. Confirm whether admission and funding require separate applications, and whether support is renewable each year.
For internships in Europe or elsewhere, check nationality and enrolment requirements, the stipend, accommodation and travel coverage. Paid does not necessarily mean fully funded. Remote internships may still restrict the countries where participants can work. To intern abroad without programme fees, compare direct employer applications and check which costs you must pay yourself.
For summer placements, verify the start date and application year in the official call. Search the listings for a provider or subject, such as Expedia, EU delegation traineeships or agriculture in Germany, and confirm availability with that organisation.
Check the posting date, closing date, duty station and required experience. For jobs with no experience, look for an explicit entry-level or graduate requirement; an urgent vacancy may still require experience. Verify American Embassy vacancies through the embassy's official recruitment service and New Vision vacancies against the original employer notice.
Use the intake and deadline in each listing when comparing 2026 and 2027 opportunities. A 2022 notice is historical unless the provider has published a new call. Before applying to Yale Young African Scholars or an opportunity described as a UNICEF scholarship, verify the programme name, funding and current eligibility directly with the organisation. A search phrase alone does not confirm an available award.
