The programme welcomes applicants from all countries including Uganda and from relevant academic backgrounds such as health sciences, public policy, engineering, social work, international relations and political science. Applicants need a bachelor\'s degree, sufficient English and a profile demonstrating academic merit, relevant experience and motivation for humanitarian work.
About this opportunity
HumanResponse trains students and professionals for humanitarian action, global health and displacement response through an interdisciplinary curriculum. Students undertake study periods in Portugal, Norway and Uganda and complete field-based dissertation work.
Benefits
The programme offers Erasmus Mundus scholarships, with scholarship holders paying no tuition and receiving monthly living support and programme insurance under the applicable award terms. Self-funded tuition applies to students without a scholarship. Students should separately confirm whether their completed joint degree and Norwegian study-permit history meet Norway\'s post-study job-seeker residence requirements.
Requirements
Applicants provide a valid passport, photograph, previous diplomas, full transcripts, English-proficiency evidence, CV, statement of purpose and two signed and dated recommendation letters.
How to apply
Apply through the official HumanResponse application route and designated application platform when the next call opens. The previous cycle is closed and the next exact opening and deadline have not yet been published.
Find scholarships, postgraduate study and internships
Explore opportunities from Uganda and abroad. Location describes where an opportunity is based; check the official eligibility rules to confirm whether Ugandan, African or other international applicants can apply.
Fully funded scholarships in Canada, the USA and Europe
Compare undergraduate, master's and PhD awards by eligible nationality, subject and funding coverage. A tuition waiver does not necessarily cover living costs, insurance or travel. For medical study, confirm the exact degree and whether clinical training is included. High school awards have different age and admission requirements from university scholarships.
For US universities offering full scholarships, check the university's international admissions and financial aid pages. Confirm whether admission and funding require separate applications, and whether support is renewable each year.
Paid internships abroad and online internships
For internships in Europe or elsewhere, check nationality and enrolment requirements, the stipend, accommodation and travel coverage. Paid does not necessarily mean fully funded. Remote internships may still restrict the countries where participants can work. To intern abroad without programme fees, compare direct employer applications and check which costs you must pay yourself.
For summer placements, verify the start date and application year in the official call. Search the listings for a provider or subject, such as Expedia, EU delegation traineeships or agriculture in Germany, and confirm availability with that organisation.
NGO jobs, entry-level jobs and internships in Uganda
Check the posting date, closing date, duty station and required experience. For jobs with no experience, look for an explicit entry-level or graduate requirement; an urgent vacancy may still require experience. Verify American Embassy vacancies through the embassy's official recruitment service and New Vision vacancies against the original employer notice.
Application years and named scholarship programmes
Use the intake and deadline in each listing when comparing 2026 and 2027 opportunities. A 2022 notice is historical unless the provider has published a new call. Before applying to Yale Young African Scholars or an opportunity described as a UNICEF scholarship, verify the programme name, funding and current eligibility directly with the organisation. A search phrase alone does not confirm an available award.
