Applicants may hold an undergraduate or master\'s degree and should demonstrate strong academic preparation, compelling research interests and relevant archaeological fieldwork or professional experience. Brown\'s doctoral funding applies to both domestic and international students.
Brown University\'s doctoral programme in Archaeology and the Ancient World is accepting applications for Fall 2027. The programme focuses on advanced archaeological research, particularly in the ancient Mediterranean and connected regions.
Benefits
Brown guarantees six years of support for doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences, subject to satisfactory progress. Support includes a stipend, full tuition scholarship, health insurance, dental insurance and the health-services fee.
Requirements
Brown\'s online doctoral application, academic transcripts, personal or research statement, three recommendation letters and programme-specific materials. International applicants whose native language is not English must provide an accepted English-language test unless exempt; Brown\'s application fee is $75.
