Projects may be implemented in eligible programme countries including Uganda, but the applying company must satisfy develoPPP\'s corporate participation rules. The company must be privately owned and profit-oriented, meet the required registration-country criteria, normally have at least eight employees, annual turnover of at least €800,000, at least two audited annual financial statements, and sufficient positive earnings, equity and liquidity to co-finance the project. The proposed project must have a long-term business rationale, generate development benefits beyond the company\'s normal core operations and comply with the programme country and sector rules.
develoPPP Classic co-finances commercially viable company projects that also create measurable development benefits in eligible developing and emerging economies. Companies can propose projects in areas such as sustainable supply chains, vocational training, agriculture, food security and other private-sector development priorities.
Benefits
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development can provide between €100,000 and €2 million in project funding, normally covering up to 50% of eligible project costs. DEG Impulse or GIZ supports project preparation, structuring and implementation with financial, technical, regional and network expertise. The company contributes at least the remaining project share and gains an experienced German development-cooperation implementation partner.
Requirements
Prepare a sound project concept that demonstrates both a commercial rationale and measurable development impact, confirm that the company satisfies the participation criteria, and provide two current audited annual financial statements. The application must identify the preferred implementing partner and provide the company and project information required by the central platform. Projects selected at the first stage are developed further with the implementing partner into a detailed scope, schedule and budget before final approval.
How to apply
Review the develoPPP Classic participation conditions and eligible-country list, choose DEG Impulse or GIZ as the preferred implementing partner, and submit the company and project application through the central develoPPP application platform during the August 15 to September 30 competition window. If preselected, work with the implementing partner to prepare the detailed project concept and contract documentation.
