African citizens or refugees who are 35 or younger, have completed a bachelor’s degree, do not already hold a master’s degree, meet UBC’s academic requirements, and are applying to an eligible master’s programme.
UBC’s Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program supports eligible African students and refugees in selected postgraduate programmes. For the Winter 2027 intake, the expression of interest opens August 31, 2026 and is due September 6, 2026. Eligible candidates are then invited to the programme application stage.
The scholarship package includes tuition and books, flights and immigration support, room and board, living stipends, health insurance, career services and other programme support.
