Competitive ANU research scholarship providing a substantial annual stipend and additional allowances. International University Research Scholarship recipients may also receive the HDR Fee Merit Scholarship covering tuition.
Benefits
The University Research Scholarship provides a 2027 base stipend of AUD 40,475 per year for up to 3.5 years for a PhD or 1.5 years for a Master of Philosophy, together with eligible travel and removal support to Canberra, thesis allowance, dependent-child allowance for eligible international students and paid medical, maternity and parental leave. Eligible international University Research Scholarship recipients may receive the HDR Fee Merit Scholarship covering international tuition fees for up to four years for a PhD or two years for an MPhil and Overseas Student Health Cover for the scholar and eligible immediate family members.
Requirements
Applicants must submit a complete ANU Higher Degree by Research admission application by the international scholarship-round deadline and satisfy the academic, research and English-language admission standards of the proposed programme. The HDR application includes the academic and research documentation required by the relevant college, referee reports and evidence of English proficiency where applicable. Applicants should identify a suitable research area and supervisor in accordance with their college\'s admission process.
How to apply
Submit an ANU Higher Degree by Research admission application by the international scholarship deadline and indicate that scholarship consideration is required. New applicants do not submit a separate University Research Scholarship or HDR Fee Merit Scholarship form; eligible applicants are ranked through the HDR admission and scholarship process.
