Who can apply

The visa is available to suitably qualified overseas workers and does not exclude Ugandan nationals. Applicants must be nominated for an eligible skilled position by an approved sponsor, possess the skills required for the nominated job and satisfy the applicable English-language, health, character and stream-specific criteria.

About this opportunity

Australia\'s Skills in Demand visa allows an approved employer to sponsor an overseas skilled worker for a position that cannot be filled by a suitably skilled Australian worker. The route includes streams aligned with different skilled employment circumstances.

Benefits
The Core Skills Stream can permit a stay in Australia of up to four years. Visa holders may work for the sponsoring employer in the approved occupation and obtain Australian skilled-work experience while lawfully residing in Australia.

Requirements
Applicants need an approved employer nomination, evidence of the skills and qualifications required for the occupation, English-language evidence unless exempt and the identity, health, character and employment documents requested by the Department of Home Affairs. Additional occupation or licensing requirements may apply.

How to apply
Obtain an eligible skilled job offer from an Australian employer willing and approved to sponsor the position. The employer completes the sponsorship and nomination requirements, after which the worker submits the subclass 482 visa application through ImmiAccount with all required documents and fees.
