Who can apply

Ugandan nationals are not excluded from the route. Applicants must have a confirmed job offer from a Home Office-approved sponsor, receive a Certificate of Sponsorship, work in an eligible occupation and satisfy the applicable salary rules. The standard salary threshold is normally at least £41,700 or the occupation\'s going rate, whichever is higher, although defined lower-rate provisions apply to certain applicants and occupations. New applicants normally need English at CEFR B2.

About this opportunity

The Skilled Worker visa allows eligible overseas professionals to live and work in the United Kingdom for an approved employer. It covers a broad range of eligible skilled occupations and can lead to long-term residence when settlement conditions are met.

Benefits
The visa allows sponsored employment in the United Kingdom for up to five years per grant, with extensions available while eligibility continues. Eligible partners and children may accompany the worker, and qualifying Skilled Worker residence can lead to indefinite leave to remain after five years.

Requirements
Applicants need the Certificate of Sponsorship reference, passport, proof of English, job title and salary, occupation code and sponsor details. Depending on the role and applicant\'s circumstances, additional documents may include financial evidence, tuberculosis-test results, criminal-record certificates, ATAS certification or Ecctis confirmation of an overseas qualification.

How to apply
First obtain an eligible job offer from a licensed UK sponsor and receive the Certificate of Sponsorship. Complete the online Skilled Worker visa application within the permitted period before the employment start date, upload the required evidence, pay the applicable visa and health-related fees and complete identity or biometric requirements.
