Applicants from the United States and around the world, including Uganda, are eligible. Postdoctoral candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant social-science field such as international affairs, political science, sociology, history, economics or environmental studies and must have earned the doctorate within the previous three years or complete and defend it before the appointment begins.
The Weatherhead Scholars Program brings social scientists working on international, transnational and comparative issues to Harvard for a residential academic year. The programme accepts scholars from around the world and awards several dedicated funded postdoctoral places.
Benefits
Funded Weatherhead postdoctoral fellows receive a USD 70,000 salary for 2027-2028, payable over 12 months, and are eligible for Harvard University employee benefits. Fellows participate in the Weatherhead intellectual community, seminars and interdisciplinary activities. All postdoctoral applicants are considered for available Weatherhead funding sources.
Requirements
Applicants submit the materials required in Harvard\'s ARIeS academic hiring portal, documenting the doctorate, research programme, international or comparative focus, scholarly record and proposed Weatherhead project. References and additional academic documents are required according to the posting.
How to apply
Complete the Weatherhead Scholars Program postdoctoral application through Harvard\'s ARIeS system and upload all required academic and research materials by 2026-10-08. All postdoctoral applicants are considered for relevant programme fellowship funding without a separate funding application.
