Who can apply

Ugandan citizens can apply under the nationality-neutral route. Applicants need a confirmed job offer lasting at least six months from an approved scale-up business, a Certificate of Sponsorship, an eligible occupation and salary meeting both the route threshold and the occupation\'s applicable going rate. Applicants must demonstrate English at CEFR B2 unless an exemption applies.

About this opportunity

The Scale-up Worker visa enables high-growth UK businesses approved for the route to recruit skilled international employees. After completing the initial six-month sponsored period, holders gain substantially greater freedom to change employment or become self-employed.

Benefits
The visa permits the holder to work in the sponsored role for the first six months and afterwards change or stop employment without notifying the Home Office, undertake additional employment or become self-employed. Eligible partners and children may accompany the worker. The route can lead to indefinite leave to remain after five qualifying years. The application fee is GBP 937 and the Immigration Health Surcharge is normally GBP 1,035 per year.

Requirements
Applicants need a Certificate of Sponsorship reference, valid passport, job title, occupation code, annual salary, sponsor name and sponsor licence number and English-language evidence. Applicants usually also need GBP 1,270 in maintenance funds held for at least 28 consecutive days unless exempt or the sponsoring employer certifies maintenance.

How to apply
Obtain an eligible six-month-or-longer job offer from an approved scale-up sponsor and receive a Certificate of Sponsorship. Apply online up to three months before the employment start date, upload the identity, sponsorship, salary, English and financial evidence and complete any required biometric or identity-verification process.
