Ugandan citizens can qualify if they meet the nationality-neutral visa rules. Applicants must hold an eligible subclass 457, subclass 482 or qualifying bridging visa and normally have completed at least two years of eligible full-time sponsored employment in Australia during the three years immediately before application. They need an approved employer nomination, the skills and qualifications required for the occupation and must normally be under 45 unless an exemption applies.
Australia\'s Employer Nomination Scheme Temporary Residence Transition stream enables eligible sponsored temporary workers to become permanent residents when nominated by their current employer.
Benefits
The visa provides permanent residence, allowing recipients to live, work and study in Australia indefinitely, enrol in Medicare, sponsor eligible relatives and apply for Australian citizenship when eligible. It includes a five-year travel facility from the date of grant, and eligible family members can be included in the application.
Requirements
Applicants need evidence of the qualifying temporary visa, two years of eligible sponsored employment, an approved nomination from the sponsoring employer, occupational qualifications and skills evidence, licensing or professional registration where required and identity, health and character documentation.
How to apply
Confirm that the qualifying sponsored-employment period has been completed and have the current employer lodge a valid subclass 186 nomination. The visa application must be linked to an approved nomination and lodged within the permitted nomination period through ImmiAccount with all employment, qualification, identity, health and character evidence.
