Full opportunity detailsUgandan citizens may apply as third-country nationals. Applicants must have higher-education qualifications representing at least 180 credits or at least five years of relevant professional experience, a signed highly qualified employment agreement lasting at least six months and remuneration meeting Sweden\'s current EU Blue Card salary threshold. Applicants must also satisfy passport, health-insurance and employment-condition requirements.
Sweden\'s EU Blue Card provides a work and residence route for highly qualified workers from outside the EU and EEA. Applicants need a qualifying employment contract and professional qualifications appropriate to the position.
Benefits
The EU Blue Card authorises highly qualified employment and residence in Sweden and can be issued for the permitted employment period subject to the route\'s maximum validity rules. Eligible family members may apply to accompany the Blue Card holder. Current rules also provide greater flexibility for eligible Blue Card holders changing qualifying highly skilled employment.
Requirements
Applicants need a valid passport, signed employment agreement, documentation of higher education or qualifying professional experience, evidence that the salary threshold is met and comprehensive health-insurance evidence where required. The Swedish employer must provide employment information and terms meeting Swedish standards.
How to apply
Secure qualifying highly skilled Swedish employment and have the employer provide the required job information. Complete the EU Blue Card application through the Swedish Migration Agency, upload qualification, employment, passport and insurance documentation and complete the required passport and biometric verification.
