Full opportunity detailsUgandan citizens are eligible as nationals of a country outside the EU and EEA. Applicants must be outside Sweden, hold a valid passport and have completed studies equivalent to a second-cycle qualification, such as a 60-credit or 120-credit Master\'s degree, qualifying professional degree or postgraduate or doctoral qualification. Applicants must intend to look for work or investigate starting a business, have at least SEK 13,000 for every requested month plus funds for the return journey and hold comprehensive health insurance.
Sweden allows highly qualified people from outside the EU and EEA to obtain a temporary residence permit specifically to look for employment or explore starting a business. A Swedish job offer is not required before applying.
Benefits
The permit can be granted for up to nine months. It allows the holder to remain in Sweden while searching for suitable employment or assessing a business opportunity. A person who obtains qualifying employment may apply for the appropriate Swedish work permit under the applicable rules.
Requirements
Applicants need passport copies, degree certificate, course or subject list, financial evidence showing at least SEK 13,000 per requested month, comprehensive health-insurance evidence and a signed consent authorising the Swedish Council for Higher Education to verify study documents. Documents must be in Swedish or English or accompanied by certified translations.
How to apply
Complete the Swedish Migration Agency e-service while outside Sweden, upload the required passport, academic, financial, insurance and verification-consent documents and pay the SEK 2,200 application fee. Present the passport and biometrics at the designated Swedish mission or through an authorised digital process when instructed.
