Uganda is explicitly eligible. Intended primarily for early-career conservationists, recent graduates and MSc or PhD researchers conducting practical work on threatened species or habitats. Undergraduate projects and projects that have already started are ineligible.
ROLLING APPLICATIONS — there is no official application deadline. Rufford supports practical conservation projects in Uganda and other eligible developing economies. First grants provide up to £7,000, with follow-on grants of £8,000, £12,000 and £18,000 available as successful projects develop. The grant is aimed mainly at early-career conservationists, recent graduates and MSc or PhD researchers. Applicants need a recipient organization or university and three references. Funding is for conservation project costs rather than tuition; international travel is generally not supported. Oldskoolmates currently requires a date for grant listings, so 31 December 2026 is a listing review date only, not a Rufford deadline.
