Full opportunity detailsUgandan citizens require the relevant visa and residence permission as third-country nationals. Commercial entrepreneurs must demonstrate economic interest or regional demand for the product or service, a foreseeable positive effect on the German economy and secured financing through their own capital or a loan commitment. Freelancers must demonstrate sufficient project financing and obtain any professional licences required for their occupation.
Germany\'s self-employment immigration route allows qualifying third-country entrepreneurs and freelancers to establish businesses or professional activities in Germany. Applicants must demonstrate that the proposed activity is viable, beneficial and adequately financed.
Benefits
A self-employment residence permit can initially be issued for up to three years and may be extended if the business remains successful and the applicant can support themselves and their family. Commercial entrepreneurs may become eligible for a German settlement permit after three years if the business is successfully established and livelihood requirements are met.
Requirements
Applicants generally need a completed visa or residence application form, valid passport, detailed business plan, financing documentation and proof of health insurance. Supporting documents may include qualifications, references and evidence of entrepreneurial experience, and applicants over 45 must demonstrate adequate retirement provision.
How to apply
Prepare the business plan, financing evidence and required professional documents. Applicants residing outside Germany must submit the visa application for self-employment through the competent German mission in their country of residence, then complete the residence-permit process with the relevant immigration authority after arrival.
