Applicants can be of any nationality, including Ugandan citizens. Candidates must satisfy the Royal Society\'s early-career research requirements, propose research within its natural-sciences remit and establish the fellowship at an eligible UK or Republic of Ireland host organisation.
The University Research Fellowship supports outstanding early-career scientists with the potential to become leaders in their fields. The fellowship provides long-term support to establish an independent research programme in the UK or Republic of Ireland.
Benefits
Applicants can request up to GBP 1,907,400 over eight years. Eligible costs can include the fellow\'s salary contribution, research expenses, equipment, consumables, travel, research assistance, postdoctoral researchers, PhD studentships and technical support. Qualifying relocation and visa costs for the fellow and eligible dependants can be requested in addition to the normal award cap.
Requirements
Applicants require an eligible host organisation, an independent research proposal, career and publication information, a detailed project budget and the institutional approvals required through the Royal Society\'s Flexi-Grant system.
