Researchers of any nationality, including Ugandan citizens, may apply subject to EMBO\'s mobility rules. Applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent by the fellowship start, normally have obtained the PhD within the two years before application and possess at least one qualifying first-author peer-reviewed research paper or eligible independently reviewed preprint.
EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships support internationally mobile researchers undertaking high-quality postdoctoral research in the life sciences. Applications are accepted throughout the year but are assessed in selection rounds, with the next hard evaluation cutoff on 2027-01-22.
Benefits
Fellowships are normally awarded for two years, with a minimum requested duration of one year. EMBO provides funding enabling host institutions in EMBC member states to issue employment contracts, while fellows in other eligible countries receive stipends. Support also includes relocation assistance and family-related support under programme rules, plus access to EMBO training and the international fellows network.
Requirements
Applicants need an eligible receiving laboratory, an original postdoctoral project, proof of doctoral status and publication eligibility, two references and formal receiving-institute acceptance. Applications and all supporting documentation must be submitted through EMBO\'s online system.
How to apply
Confirm mobility and career-stage eligibility, agree on a research project with an eligible host laboratory, obtain institutional acceptance and two referees and submit the completed fellowship application electronically by 2027-01-22 at 14:00 CET for the next evaluation round.
