Researchers across Africa, including Ugandan applicants, are eligible. Doctoral students, academic teams and community-based organisations may apply when their proposed work is led by a qualified investigator and aligned with the initiative\'s public-health mission.
The AMBSO Impact Research Initiative funds innovative early-stage research, proof-of-concept projects and emerging ideas addressing priority African public-health challenges. Priority areas include infectious disease, AI and digital health, HIV, climate and health, cancer, maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases and healthy ageing.
Benefits
Successful projects can receive up to USD 10,000 for implementation periods of up to 18 months. Funding can cover direct research costs including protocol development, ethical and regulatory approvals, data collection, community engagement and technical support.
Requirements
Applicants must submit the prescribed Expression of Interest, a detailed project budget and budget narrative and resumes for the Principal Investigator, key investigators and personnel. The proposal must address an eligible public-health research area and present a feasible early-stage or proof-of-concept project.
How to apply
Prepare the official AMBSO Expression of Interest and project budget, assemble the required supporting documents and submit through the AMBSO grants application process by 18:00 East Africa Time on 2026-10-02.
