Full opportunity detailsUgandan scholars and practitioners are eligible because the Wilson Center competition does not impose a U.S.-citizenship requirement. Academic applicants must have a PhD and either a book or monograph beyond the dissertation or at least five substantial peer-reviewed publications. Government, policy and nonprofit applicants normally need at least ten years of relevant experience and a record of substantial policy impact, publication or leadership. English proficiency is required.
The Wilson Center Research Fellowship supports policy-relevant, nonpartisan research on major foreign-policy challenges facing the United States and the world. Fellows conduct independent research while engaging with policymakers and the Wilson Center\'s scholarly community.
Benefits
The fellowship pays USD 10,000 per month for twelve months, for total stipend support of USD 120,000. Fellows work remotely and the Wilson Center pays for a trip to Washington, DC at both the beginning and end of the fellowship.
Requirements
Applications must include the online fellowship form, a current CV of no more than three pages, a project proposal of no more than five pages and two recommendation letters. The proposed project must be nonpartisan, policy relevant and aligned with strategic competition, economic statecraft, technology and innovation or regional studies.
How to apply
Complete the official Interfolio fellowship application, upload the three-page CV and five-page project proposal and arrange submission of two recommendation letters. Submit all materials by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on 2026-09-30.
