Full opportunity detailsApplicants from Uganda and other countries worldwide may apply. Eligible entrants include individuals, entrepreneurs, startups, nonprofit organizations and other teams developing technology-based education solutions. Global Challenge applicants must ordinarily have at least a functioning prototype; concept-stage projects without functioning prototypes are not eligible for this Global Challenge. Solutions must address the published education challenge, demonstrate potential impact and present a credible implementation approach. Applicants must have the capacity to participate in the Solver programme if selected.
MIT Solve\'s Global Learning Challenge seeks technology-based solutions that reduce educational inequality and improve learning outcomes. The challenge focuses on innovations strengthening teaching, improving assessment, expanding accessible learning and supporting education in low-resource settings.
Benefits
Every selected Solver team receives a USD 10,000 MIT Solve grant. Selected teams may also compete for additional eligible awards from a prize pool exceeding USD 1 million, subject to the conditions of individual prizes. MIT Solve reports average funding of approximately USD 40,000 per selected team, but this is not a guaranteed award amount. The nine-month support programme includes leadership coaching, tailored workshops, access to legal and technology resources, monitoring and evaluation support, investor and partner connections, media exposure and networking. Required activities include Solver Orientation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Solve Challenge Finals in New York City.
Requirements
Applicants must complete MIT Solve\'s online solution application, identifying the problem addressed, target population, technology, development stage, implementation model, evidence of effectiveness, expected impact, innovation, team capabilities, financial sustainability and scalability. The application must demonstrate alignment with the Global Learning Challenge and explain the feasibility of the proposed solution. Applications must be submitted electronically; the downloadable application PDF is for preparation only.
How to apply
Create or access an MIT Solve account and open the 2027 Global Learning Challenge application. Register the solution, complete all required sections covering the education problem, technology, intended beneficiaries, development stage, impact evidence and implementation strategy. Review the submission and submit it through MIT Solve\'s online system by November 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Shortlisted teams participate in subsequent judging and finalist presentations.
