Applicants must be PhD candidates or holders and early-career researchers or academics at an ACU member university, including eligible Ugandan institutions. They must be within seven years of starting their academic career, allowing career breaks. Only one place is offered per university.

Researchers learn how to communicate findings to public audiences and pitch stories to the media. Training combines group sessions and individualized feedback.

Benefits
Twenty funded places, two two-hour group sessions and individual feedback on a 250–350-word media pitch. Training covers story selection, audience, language, structure and avoiding misrepresentation.

Requirements
Complete the ACU application establishing PhD status, institutional affiliation and career-stage eligibility. Selected participants develop a media pitch for feedback.
