Open to applicants of every nationality, including Uganda. Applicants must be advanced PhD candidates or recent PhD recipients in an eligible social-science field with regional expertise outside the United States and Canada. Completed doctorates must have been awarded on or after 1 August 2025; candidates must finish by 30 June 2027.
A two-year residential fellowship for outstanding early-career social scientists. Academy Scholars receive a US$80,000 annual stipend plus US$6,000 in research support each year and work at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Applicants from Uganda and all other countries are eligible when their work combines strong social-science training with expertise in a region outside the United States and Canada. Deadline: 18 September 2026 at 11:59 p.m. US Eastern Time. Recommendation letters are due 28 September 2026.
