The official Uganda country list offers Research Fellowships and PhD Scholarships. Applicants must hold or complete a Master\'s degree by 31 July 2027, or 30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich, be born after 31 December 1991 and secure a supporting Swiss academic supervisor. Applicants already in Switzerland must not have arrived before 1 August 2026. Research fellowships are for researchers undertaking a project connected to an existing doctorate; PhD awards support a doctorate in Switzerland.

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships support Ugandan master\'s graduates undertaking doctoral study or research in Switzerland with a confirmed Swiss academic supervisor. The Uganda call includes PhD scholarships and research fellowships across academic fields.

Benefits
CHF 2,450 monthly stipend, CHF 600 one-time housing allowance, health and accident insurance for non-EU/EFTA awardees and up to 36 months of PhD support subject to annual academic progress. The research fellowship lasts six to twelve months.

Requirements
Master\'s degree by the stated date; birth after 31 December 1991; detailed research plan; Swiss supervisor\'s support letter and CV; motivation letter, academic CV, two recommendations, transcripts, certificates and passport. PhD graduate-school applicants also need official admission confirmation. No scholarship application fee.

How to apply
Complete the official eligibility check, register in Grants Online ESKAS and submit the application by 23:59 Swiss local time on 30 November 2026. A Swiss supervisor must be secured before submission.
