Ugandan citizens holding a bachelor\'s degree from Uganda qualify for the non-EU/non-EEA applicant window. Applicants need a subject-relevant or sufficiently related bachelor\'s degree equivalent to at least 180 ECTS and must have completed at least 150 ECTS or equivalent by the application deadline.

An English-taught social-science master\'s focusing on contemporary India through interdisciplinary study of politics, society, economics and development. The programme begins only in the winter semester.

Benefits
The University of Göttingen generally does not charge tuition for this consecutive master\'s programme. Students pay semester fees and finance accommodation, living costs, health insurance, visa and travel. Modern Indian Studies is taught in English and does not impose the German-language requirement applied to the faculty\'s German-taught master\'s programmes.

Requirements
Applicants must upload the signed application generated after registration, bachelor\'s certificate if already available, transcript showing at least 150 ECTS or equivalent and average grade, CV, motivation letter of up to two pages and proof of English if English is not the applicant\'s native language. Foreign certificates must be supplied in German or English or with accepted certified translations where required.

Register in the Faculty of Social Sciences master\'s application portal between 6 October and 15 November 2026. Complete the Modern Indian Studies application, obtain the registration number and upload all required PDF documents through the faculty upload portal by 15 November.
